jacks mad science birthday party

hey everyone... this weekend we celebrated jack's 7th birthday... after changing his mind like a gazillion times, he finally settled on a theme... mad science... and whats great, is that there is this company that does these awesome science parties for kids... and they totally nailed a perfect party for a bunch of 7 year old little boys... there were lots of loud noises, setting things on fire, rockets, smelly gases, and slime...

now i am ashamed to admit that i was a bit off my game for this party... usually i have everything planned to the second... but i haven't been feeling that well, so i kinda just went with the flow and tried not to stress... so... i stuck to simple decorations, and some fun and colorful desserts... thanks to amazon i was able to order somethings like test tubes and petri dishes to display some of the goodies...

hey everyone... just got back from a wonderful vacation... did you miss me?? i missed my kitchen... and my bed... but honestly other than that, i wish i could be back in our beachfront cottage right now... it truly was a great time, full of family, drinks, laughs, sun and surf...

well, yesterday i jumped right back into baking, with two orders... 2 cookie cakes.. 1 single layer and 1 triple layer sandwiched cookie cake... mmmm....

i used my goto chocolate chip recipe by the fabulous dorie greenspan, and the only thing i did differently is i lowered the oven temp by 25 degrees... oh, and i baked the layers in a spring form pan... the layers baked up perfect... crispy on the outside and still soft and chewy on the inside... plus that added goodness of vanilla butter cream...

this cake was for one of my neighbors, and a heck of a football stud, josh :)

i was happy to bake this monster for him for his birthday... i'm sure going to miss him, his wifey morgan (i'm really going to miss her), and their two adorable boys when we move in a few weeks... whaaaaaa... i don't wanna move...

thanks for being wonderful neighbors and friends to me, the hubs and my boys... <3

happy 6th birthday to my amazing JACK!

i just wanted to share with you some pictures from my biggest little guy, jacks' 6th birthday... i cannot believe how quickly time has gone... it seems like only yesterday i was swaddling him in blankets at the hospital (well trying to at least... he was a wiggler who couldn't wait to stretch his legs once out of the belly)...

jack has taught me more about myself then i ever thought possible... he changed my life when he came into my arms 6 years ago... and he continues to amaze me everyday since...

happy birthday to my amazing hubby!

hey everyone! hope you're all doing fabulous today... i just want to take this time out to wish the love of my life a happy birthday... i bust his balls that he's an old man now that he's turned thirty, but to me he's still that cute 23 year old guy who stole my heart...

did i ever tell you guys how we met?? i was actually his boss at abercrombie and fitch... although, he never really did listen to me at work... but something just clicked between us, and before i knew it we were a family... and i couldn't be happier :)

so for my hubby, i wanted to combine lots of delish-ious flavors... so i made two layers of vanilla cake, a fudgy brownie layer, and topped them with peanut butter cream and vanillabean buttercream... it was sinfully good... almost too rich that my thighs were burning... but hey, each bite was worth it!!!
how good does that look!! and if everyone wants the recipe let me know... it is amazingly good!!

here are the three loves of my life... my three men :)

hey there everyone!! here's the showpiece cake topper i made for my little munchkin Ben's 2nd birthday... since Ben is my little wild one, i figured what better theme then "where the wild things are"... so here's some pictures of my creation :) hope you enjoy!!

sweet pea!

this past weekend, my family celebrated my sister in law's baby shower... and let me say... there is nothing sweeter than a baby shower... my mother, sister and i chose the theme "sweet pea"... and everything was SO adorable to say the least... the food was amazing, the company was fabulous, and lets just say the clothes... oh my!! this is going to be one dapper little dude...

of course, i made the cupcakes... sweet vanilla cake with honey vanilla bean buttercream, with just simple little fondant flowers, and of course the guest of honor, baby (*******) poking his cute little head out of the pea pod...

i cannot wait to meet the new addition to our ever growing and beautiful family... i'll see you in june little man...
